Port Blair, Jun 07: About nine people were rushed to hospital yesterday following suspected case of food poisoning.
According to reports the victims were Truck drivers and labourers working under a local contractor.
As reported, the Contractor had bought lunch packets for the workers from a vendor Mr. Pradeep Parwa (41) yrs, Swagat Restaurant and Sweets Stall, Chouldari.
The workers were admitted after they complained of dizziness and vomiting after the lunch.
Later it was informed that 07 workers were discharged after receiving medical attention but 02 were still under medical observation.
A case was also reported to PS Ograbraj against the vendor.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Commissioner of Food Safety, A & N Islands, Mr. Udit Prakash Rai said that after getting information the Food Safety unit investigated the matter and found negligence form the side of restaurant owner. “The license of the restaurant was immediately suspended. After food test report we can say anything about the reason behind this food poisoning case,” Mr. Rai added.
