Port Blair, May 17: Taking up the case of two missing fishermen of Little Andaman Island, to top level, Mr. Sanjay Meshack the Convener of Aam Aadmi Party, ANI, today met the Director General of Police, Mr. Dependra Pathak, along with the wife of one of the missing fishermen. Mr Deepak Yadav, the Superintendent of police South Andaman was also present during the meeting.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Sanjay Meshack today said that during the meeting he highlighted about two missing fishermen of Little Andaman, who are missing from Little Andaman islands since 24 December 2018.
He alleged that till now neither any effort has been made to trace out the fishermen nor proper inquiry has been conducted.
Mr. Meshack alleged that around nine Fishermen had gone to bring huge amount of coconuts from South Bay Area of Little Andaman and while bringing around 60 gunny bags full of coconuts the overloaded dinghy capsized.
After the incident seven fishermen safely reached the shore while two fishermen went missing.
Mr. Sanjay Meshack told Andaman Sheekha that during the meeting the Director General of Police has assured him that justice will be done in this case.
Mr Sanjay Meshack alleged that among seven surviving fishermen five are giving statement in favour of the dinghy owner while two are telling the actual story, who are now under tremendous pressure to change the statement.
Later talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Deepak Yadav, the Superintendent of police South Andaman today said that during the meeting the DGP has assured Mr. Sanjay Meshack to take the case to a logical conclusion and carryout the case on merit.
