Havelock, Apr 21: Andaman Sheekha had recently reported how power crisis in Swaraj Dweep is causing serious loss to the hotel and resort owners. Now the public of Swaraj Dweep have also beginning to raise voice against power cuts and are demanding immediately repair of DG sets of Electricity Department.
As per reports one DG set of Swaraj Dweep is out of order since past one week, which has triggered this power crisis in the Island,
Talking to Andaman Sheekha a villager of Swaraj Dweep said that there is absolutely no schedule for power cuts in Swaraj Dweep in day and evening hours. Usually there are two hour power cuts and at night hours there are again unscheduled power cuts, which can’t even let Islanders to sleep peacefully.
Hotel and Resort Owners as reported earlier are facing double problems, neither there is sufficient power nor sufficient fuel for their private DG Sets in Swaraj Dweep. Meanwhile some people who allegedly sell Diesel at the rate of Rs. 95 to 98 per liter are reportedly making maximum benefit out of this situation.
The villagers and Hotel as well as resort owners are now demanding immediate intervention of Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary in this matter.
The mobile number of the Superintending Engineer of Electricity Department, Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul was out of reachable area today evening and hence a comment can’t be obtained from him in this regard.
