Port Blair, Apr 10: The Returning Officer of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency Mr. Udit Prakash Rai has urged all Islanders to come out in large number and exercise their franchise.
Talking exclusively with Andaman Sheekha Mr. Udit Prakash Rai today said that the preparation of the polling machineries has been completed for all the districts.
He said that polling machineries for all the districts have been distributed. All the sector officers have been given reserve machines and all the polling parties departed towards their respective polling stations along with the kit and police personnel after examining their kits.
Mr Rai also said that all the polling parties with machinery will reach to their respective polling stations at night and the polling booths will be set up by 5:00 AM in the morning of 11th April and at 6:00 am all the set up will be mock tested and then from morning 7:00am the polling will start and it will continue till evening 6:00 pm.
Mr. Rai also said that special arrangements have been made for divyangs. Ballot papers have been printed in Brail Script, wheelchairs have been provided and volunteers have been kept to help. “Sheds and drinking water facilities have also been arranged for senior citizens,” he said.
