Port Blair, Apr 07: A fishing dinghy from Port Blair, which was fishing near Neil Island, capsized after it was hit by a big vessel yesterday night at around 11.00 PM. According to four fishermen, who were onboard the dinghy, the big vessel did not even stop to rescue them, after hitting it.
Whole night these four fishermen survived by floating with the help of the Ice box they had. Later in the morning another dinghy, which was passing by, rescued them and brought them to Neil Island. Meanwhile a case has been registered in this regard under section 280/337 IPC at Police Station Neil Island.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Deepak Yadav, the SP of South Andaman District said that from the description of the vessel, given by the fishermen, it appears that the big vessel was MV Coral Queen. “Police Department has zeroed in two vessels and further investigations are on,” he said.
Meanwhile, video available with Andaman Sheekha shows four fishermen being rescued by some people in another small dinghy and while the rescue one of the victim fishermen saying that the vessel did not even stop to help them.
