Baratang, Feb 24: As if convoy system and snail pace vehicle ferry services are not enough for Andaman Trunk Road Passengers, now fog is also playing spoilsport and bringing bagful of trouble for the passengers.
According to reports today for the third day in a row, the first convoy from Middle Strait was delayed due to dense fog over the creek of Middle Strait.
As due to dense fog over Middle Strait, visibility reduces to only few meters, vehicle ferry operators prefer not to operate vehicle ferry for safety concerns. In last three days first vehicle ferry from Baratang Jetty could only sail for Middle Strait at around 7.15 AM and the first convoy could depart from Middle Strait at around 8.00 AM instead of 6.30 AM.
Such delay not only increases journey time of passengers but also causes huge jam at Baratang Jetty and queue of vehicles could be seen upto SBI Bank from the Nilambur Jetty.
