Port Blair, Jan 30: A Fire was reported from the debris dumped near the vegetable market of Bhatu Basti Vegetable Market area this evening. As per reports some people tried to burn the debris which went out of control and there was a threat of further spread of fire to nearby market and houses and hence the fire brigade was informed. On information two fire tenders reached the spot immediately and controlled the fire.
Yet again, in this case also Fire Tenders faced huge difficulties in reaching upto the place of fire due to illegal and irresponsible parking of vehicles in Vegetable Market road. Earlier during recent Round Basti fire also fire brigade had faced similar problem.
The Administration must take some immediate steps to deal with such illegal and irresponsible parking of vehicles in thickly populated and market areas, which may prove disastrous in case of any major fire accident in future.
