N&M Andaman Dec 31: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), Nimbudera observed Swachta Pakhwada from 16.12.2018 to 31.12.2018 by executing day to day activities in different places of Middle Andaman as per the instruction of GOI/ICAR. During the fortnight programme a series of activities were organized at different places involving KVK staff, farmers/ farmwomen, PRI’s, school children and villagers. Swachta Pakhwada began with swachta pledge, display of banners, briefing of activities and plantation of trees in KVK premises in presence of Pradhan, Basantipur, PRI’s and farmers. Cleanliness and sanitation drive including cleaning of office premises, residential colonies, common market places, stock taking of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste disposal, cleaning of sewerage & water lines, awareness on water harvesting, generation of wealth from waste was undertaken at KVK premises, Nimbudera market, Basantipur, Jaipur, Harinagar etc. Kisan Diwas was also celebrated at Swadeshnagar on 23.12.2018 wherein emphasis laid down on importance of Kisan Diwas and role of farming community in nation building. Further, interactive sessions were held on various schemes of government departments, swachta pakhwada, generating wealth from waste etc. Swachta pakhwada was also undertaken by creating awareness cum cleanliness drive at new village (Thoratang), Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav Village, tourist location like Morice dera beach, rallies by school children, visits of school children and farmers to waste management sites. In the concluding session Smt. Sabestia Lakra, Pradhan, Basantipur, Smt. Maloti Bagachi, Ex-Pradhan, PRIs, farmers, press and media persons were graced the programme. The programme was organized under active co-ordination of Mr. Batti Lal Meena, Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, Er. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Mr. Prasant Pradhan and Mr. Tanmay Paul under the supervision and guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Sr. Scientist & Head and Dr. A. Kundu, Director, CIARI Port Blair. A total 312 participants and guests were participated in above programmes, as said in a press release by Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, N&M Andaman.
