Port Blair, July 30: In the month of May, the Lt Governor had directed the Secretary, PBMC and DC (SA) to take strict action against those people including Govt. departments who carelessly dump and store construction material on roads thus encroaching upon road space.
But it seems that the direction of Lt. Governor has been clearly overlooked by the PBMC and the DC (SA) as dumping of construction materials continues in Port Blair city in almost all the localities. Andaman Sheekha has photographs of some of such open violations, which shows that how PBMC and DC (SA) is making mockery of LG’s orders.
Even today, contractors and citizens are openly dumping construction materials carelessly on the road space and leave the construction equipments and trucks on road causing great inconvenience to the road users and vehicular traffic.
Such act of dumping construction material on roads besides causing road accidents and problem to the movement of vehicles also endangers the lives of people.
It seems, either the PBMC and DC (SA) has taken the Lt. Governor very lightly or a direction from Raj Niwas does not matter much for PBMC and South Andaman District Administration Office.
“What is the use of issuing such directions when no one follows those directions? Raj Niwas must have a mechanism to cross check whether all directions of Lt. Governor are followed by all departments or are simply overlooked,” said an angry old resident of A & N Islands.
