Port Blair, Dec 07: The SGFI Under 17 Tournament is scheduled to be held in Jammu from 10 Dec 2018. As per schedule Andaman and Nicobar Administration has selected a team and practice sessions reportedly started from 25 Nov 2018.
But it seems that the team will not be able participate in the tournament because of the delay in file movement. Because of this delay now the players fear that expense amount will not sanctioned on time and they will not be able to reach Jammu for the tournament, which will be a big disappointment for local sportspersons.
Forget about competing, our team will not be able to attend that tournament which shows how serious Andaman and Nicobar Administration is towards sports.
SGFI calendar of events are declared long back and the administration should prepared accordingly so that this last moment hiccups and confusion could be avoided.
Since morning several players of the proposed team could be seen standing outside the chamber of Director of Sports but till evening there was no positive reply.
Andaman Sheekha reporter visited the office of the Director of Sports but he was unavailable for a comment in this regards.
Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendara Modi talks about promoting of sports with Khelo India but in ground reality delay in file movement is putting obstacles in development of sports in these Islands.
Mr. Sanjay Meshack, the Convener of Aam Aadmi Party has meanwhile requested Administration to immediately clear the files for the players so that they can participate in national level tournament, because participating in national tournament infuses a lot of confidence among the players.
The President of Living On The Edge – LOTE, Mr Abhay Kumar has also requested Administration to look into this matter immediately so that Andaman students, who are good in football, can go to Jammu and participate in National event and get better exposure.
