Mayabunder, July 26: Maheshwari, the student of Mahatama Gandhi Government College (MGGC), Mayabunder, who suffered paralysis on July 19, today breathed her last at G B Pant Hospital, the hostel warden of MGGC told Andaman Sheekha today. It is believed that Maheshwari had suffered paralysis after consuming some medicines, following which she was taken to Mayabunder Hospital from MGGC girls’ hostel. Later from Mayabunder Hospital the girl was referred to G B Pant Hospital on 21 July 2012. “After getting such report from Port Blair, I called up some relatives of the girl, who has now confirmed the news of Maheshwari’s death,” Ms. Sainappa, the warden of MGGC girls’ hostel told Andaman Sheekha this evening.
It is then recorded that the patient died from whatever illness, like the common cold, etc they were being treated for…One huge reason would be the distribution of fake pharmaceuticals…!!!
In most cases, no crime is suspected as the consumers are often quite sick and the evidence is swallowed….Until regulators and customers in emerging markets become aware, the use of substandard drugs will continue to notch people’s life….
