Port Blair, July 24: A blind murder case vide Crime No.100/2012 dated 12-07-2012 U/s 451/302 IPC was registered at PS Rangat on the complaint of one Manoj Kumar Sarkar R/o Rangat Immediately a team consisting of SI Mahesh Kumar, SHO, PS Rangat, SI D. K.Seal SI Abdul Salam, HC/852 Upendra Mourya, PC/1106 Khoka Dutta, PC/2214 Anil Yadav and PC/66 Samsul Hussain under overall supervision of the DYSP (NP), Mayabunder, Shi K M Pillai swung into action.
They inspected the spot thoroughly and recovered a blood stained Dah behind the house of deceased Mahendra Nath Sarkar. The neighbour of deceased were put under sustained interrogation and during interrogation it was revealed that a Dah was missing from the house of deceased Mahendra Nath Sarkar.
The neighbours of deceased were put under sustained interrogation and during interrogation it was revealed that a Dah was missing from the house of one neighbour where the accused Jagadish Majumdar was staying. On further interrogation it was gathered that one Jagadish Majumdar who arrived from Kolkata 2 months ago left Rangat soon after the offence. Clues were further developed and after confirming the location of the accused, a team was formed to proceed to Kolkata.
Being a brutal and sensitive bind murder case the DGP, A&N Islands Mr. S. B. S. Deol, IPS immediately permitted the team to proceed Kolkata by first available flight to apprehend the accused Jagadish Majumdar. The Police team of Rangat with the help of local Police succeeded to apprehend the said accused from Belmudi, Paschim Sikta, Makalpur, West Bengal and produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hooghly and obtained transit remand for bringing him to Port Blair.
Accused was produced before the Hon’ble court of CJM, Mayabunder for obtaining Police custody remand During interrogation accused confessed his guilt and on his pointing out the blood stained wearing apparels of accused were recovered from Ulla Basti and one gold finger ring of the deceased Mahendra Nath Sarkar which was sold at Aberdeen Bazar also recovered by the Police.
He was produced before the Hon’ble court Chief Judicial Magistrate Mayabunder on 24-07-2012 from where he has remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. The accused Jagadish Majumdar he has remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. The accused Jagadish Majumdar arrived in these islands to earn money but he has not succeeded and credited here thus with the intension to commit theft he has murdered one Mahemdra Nath Sarkar R/o Ulla Basti, Nimbutala and left Rangat.
