Port Blair, Oct 24: Since publication of news by Andaman Sheekha, Daily, regarding solving of KhairoonBibi Murder case by Andaman and Nicobar Police within few days, the social media is buzzing with showers of praise for Andaman and Nicobar Police.
While some readers are congratulating the A & N police for showing highest level of professionalism some are demanding rewards for officers and Jawans, who cracked this blind case.
This case seems to have installed a great sense of confidence among Islanders back on Andaman and Nicobar Police but sadly, the Andaman and Nicobar Police is downplaying this great efforts of police jawans by not sharing more details of this case and also by not sharing name of officers and lower staffs involved in this case.
Andaman and Nicobar Police usually releases press releases even after seizing few hundred grams of Ganja but in cases like this, the department remain silent, for reasons unknown, which inturn discourages hard working police jawans, especially lower ranked policeman who worked day and night on cases.
Highly placed sources told Andaman Sheekha that a press interaction regarding this case was arranged in SSP office, yesterday, in which only Doordarshan and All India Radio were invited. What is the reason for this in-camera press interaction and what is the logic behind neglecting other private media is still not known.
Some, Members of Andaman and Nicobar Media Federation have viewed such selective press interaction very seriously and are planning to take up this matter with Ministry of Home.
Earlier, DGP and SP ranked officers were always in touch with local media via regular media interactions and hence there was no communication gap between local media and police department but these days senior officers prefer to shy away from local media houses, for which not only general public do not get correct information but also the hard working police personnel get de-motivated.
The Andaman and Nicobar Police must clarify that why no proper press conference was organized in this regard and why only government media units were invited to share details regarding this murder case.
