Port Blair, Aug 06: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands had taken up the matter for enhancement of honorarium for the Anganwadi workers and Helpers and Mini Anganwadi workers from time to time with the Administration vide letters dated 01.07.2017, 03.03.2018 and 31.03.2018. The matter was also raised in the review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration.
Pursuant to that, the Social Welfare Department has accordingly processed the matter with the Administration. Necessary clearance for enhancement of honorarium from Rs.6000/- to Rs. 9000/- for Anganwadi workers, from Rs. 4000/- to RS. 6000/- for Helpers and from Rs.5250/- to Rs.8250/- for the Mini Anganwadi workers has been given by Planning/Finance department of the administration.
Further on enquiry with the Administration, it has come to understand that necessary provision is being kept in the RE-2018-19 and soon after approval of the supplementary grant in the RE by the parliament during winter session; the proposed enhancement will be implemented. This is the exact position as on date so far concerned to revisions/ enhancement of Anganwadi workers in A&N Islands. However, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, M.P is continuously pursing the matter with Administration from time to time.
