
Port Blair, July 24: As part of the 69th Van Mahotsav Celebrations, a tree planting programme was organized by Crescent Senior Secondary School, Wimberly Gunj in association with Department of Environment and Forest, South Andaman.
On this occasion Shri. Jagdish Kumar, Deputy Ranger, Divisional Forest Office, South Andaman along with Principal, staff and students planted different species of trees in the school campus. Addressing the school assembly, Shri. Jagdish Kumar explained to the students the importance of forests, biodiversity and conservation of the ecosystems around us.
Students and Staff members of the school actively participated in the programme by planting tree saplings which included fruit bearing, flower bearing and shade bearing varieties to develop a healthy, eco-friendly environment in the school campus.
Mrs E Saira Banu, Principal proposed vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the Department of Environment and Forest for conducting the activities of Van Mahotsav programme in the school campus. Earlier, Uday Shankar Tikadar, GTT, Incharge, Extra-curricular activities welcomed the guests and briefed about conservation and eco-friendly activities undertaken by the school.
