Port Blair, June 24: Unnati organized Valedictory function on 23-06-2018 for distribution of certificates to 20 students who undergone training in Silai School run by Unnati with the support of Usha International Ltd., New Delhi and also opened a new Silai School at Brookshabad in association with Municipal Council which started on 23-06-2018.
Unnati’s Master trainer Smti. C. Anandi welcomed the guests and participants. Mr. C. Mohammed, President Unnati in his address explained in details about Silai School Project. He said Unnati in partnership with Usha International Ltd., New Delhi is running Usha Silai School for imparting training in tailoring and fashion designing in A&N Islands since 2011. Under the programme, 50 Silai Schools are running in different parts of Island which trained 1120 trainees and also issued 380 sewing machines on concessional rates to the trainees under the scheme which enabled them to engage themselves in tailoring as self employment venture. The trainees after completion of training are also motivated to form SHG to avail financial assistance. The object of the scheme to run such schools in remote places to teach women how to sew and empower women and girls to earn their livelihood. The trainees trained by us can stitch their own clothes, stitch the clothes of others and also service/ maintain the machines. These 3 options can help them to earn income and live a life of economic independence. The trainers of Silai Schools are being trained after hiring experts in tailoring and fashion designing from Delhi, Bhopal and Luckhnow. So far 50 trainers were trained. These trainers are also imparting training to the candidates of other organizations who conduct training in tailoring and fashion designing. Under the Silai School Project a new scheme Satellite Silai School Project are being opened for imparting training to small group of trainees even 2 or 3 women/ girls/ candidates at their convenience. The Satellite Silai School would open in teacher’s own house. 68 Satellite Silai School allotted for A&N Islands. The trainers would be provided technical support and syllabus and trainees after completion of their training would also be provided certificates and sewing machines at concessional rates who want to purchase the machine.
Unnati also sanctioned a Sewing Machine to handicapped family (Mr. Basanth Rajwansi and his wife Smti. Leena Tirckey) for undertaking tailoring activities for their livelihood. President Perveen Charitable Trust also sanctioned travelling expenses to Smti. Bharti, a cancer patient for undergoing treatment in Chennai.
Smti. Anjelena Ekka, trainee gave vote of thanks. She thanked Municipal Council for their active support and providing space for conducting training and Unnati to start tailoring and fashion designing at their village besides sanction of Sewing Machine to handicapped trainees and travelling expenses to cancer patient.
