Port Blair, July 09: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration will be participating in the forthcoming India International Trade Fair 2012 schedule to be held from 14th November, 2012 to 27th November, 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. During this fair, Andaman and Nicobar Administration will participate as Focus State and propose to fabricate A & N Pavilion in 600 sq. mt of covered space so that the developmental schemes/works initiated by the Administration and resource potential of A & N Islands may be projected effectively for better marketability of our products in order to attract investments and business for the economic growth of the Islands in a holistic manner without disturbing the ecology of the Islands.
The theme for this year is “Skilling India”. Accordingly it is decided that a live demonstration on the making of handicrafts will be exhibited in the pavilion where the local artisan will make handicrafts and thereby the skills of the local artisans will be depicted.
Applications are invited from the local artisans of these Islands who possess skill and expertise in sea shell, bamboo & cane, wooden or tribal handicrafts. The artisan should be prepared to perform live demonstration of his skill in handicrafts making before the visitors and guest at A & N Pavilion during the course of India International Trade Fair, 2012 at New Delhi. The artisans will be allowed to depict all his exhibits and artifacts in the allotted stall.
The identified artisans shall be provided with to and fro transportation cost upto New Delhi in the suitable means, accommodation and daily allowance to meet his food expense while exhibits, tools & equipments required for the demonstration will be transported by the department. Apart from local Artisans, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises/Handicrafts Units, who would like to send their artisans, may submit an application indicating details of their activity, experience and list of exhibits to be transported, contact address, contact person and phone number. The application complete in all respect should reach Directorate of industries on or before 29th July, 2012.
