Port Blair, Mar 28: On 12th year successful completion, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Port Blair has celebrated its Establishment Day by inviting the Study Centre staffs and Academic Counselors. The founder Regional Director Dr. S. Saunand has conveyed his special thanks to Andaman and Nicobar Administration and all the Regional Centre staff members through whats App speech message. As Academic Counselor of IGNOU, Dr. Sivaperuman , HO, Zoological Survey of India alongwith other Counselors participated in the function. He has highlighted the role of Zoological Survey of India in A & N Islands and possible educational association with University and Colleges of A&N Islands. Shri Kesavan, the first batch student of IGNOU, Port Blair, admitted in 1988, for degree programme has shared his experiences of Study Centre Services.
On the occasion, the Regional Director Dr. S. Ganesan released the ‘Regional Centre Profile-2018’ containing the details of IGNOU network of 11 Learner Support Centres and 150 plus Academic Counselors details etc. He has projected the future plan of Regional Centre to establish IGNOU Study Centre at Medical College, Law College, ANCOL, Kendriya Vidyalaya, B.Ed College in phased manner. The Regional Centre is also planning to offer all the 150 plus Academic Programmes of the University for the benefit of A & N Population.
