Port Blair, Mar 26: The Regional Centre, Port Blair is completing 12th successful year today, the founder of Regional Director Shri. S Saunand has started the Centre at Port Blair initially the Regional Centre is functioning at JNRM, Port Blair and presently it is functioning at Kannada Sangha Building, Mohanpura, Port Blair . After the establishment of Regional Centre, Port Blair, the number of Study Centres has increase from 1 to 11 and established the Study Centre at Campbell Bay and Mayabunder also. The Study Centre was managed by Dr. S Saunand (2006 to 2011), Dr. S Srinivas (2012), Dr. Kasturi (2013-2014), Dr. S. Vijayaragavan (2015-17) and presently Dr. S Ganeshan is heading the Regional Centre, Port Blair.
In the last 12 year Regional Centre has provided Academic opportunity for more than 42,000 students, through 150 Academic Counsellor at 11 learning Support Centre at A & N Islands. It is proposed to establish IGNOU, Study Centre at Andaman Law College, ANCOL, Kendra Vidyalaya, Tagore college in phased manner. Gradually, the Regional Centre is taking initiatives to offer 75-80 academic programmes in the Islands.
