Port Blair, Mar 15: The 4th Student Council Meeting of BRAIT was held on 14th March 2018 at 10.30am in the AV Hall of the Institute. The meeting was attended by 09 Student council members and 30 elected Class Representatives apart from Principal, HoDs and Student Counselors.
At the outset the entire team congratulated the achievements made by the ex-students Lt. Shubham Shukla and Lt. Priyanka who have been recently commissioned as the Officers in the Armed Forces.
The meeting started with briefing on the NBA and its impact, by the Institute NBA Coordinator Dr. V. Alagusundaram, which highlighted the need of Societal responsibility, team Work and Ethics as mandatory graduate attributes for a passing out engineer as per NBA along with engineering knowledge and technical skills. This was linked with the various issues raised in the past meeting.
Further the council members were also briefed about the Institute Budget Grants, its structured expenditure and purchase procedures/regulations by the Mr. Benia Varghese, the Purchase Secretary of the institute. In addition to this, the council was made aware about the various AICTE mandates as per TEQIP and NPIU requirements by Ms. S. Raji, TPO and also shared the placement status of degree students for the last five years.
The course of meeting largely focused on discussions on the action taken on the issues raised in the 3rd Council Meeting some of which were already discussed with the student members in an earlier occasion. Discussions on R & D based project and internship training were also held during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a common consensus on various agenda points of the meeting and subsequently signing of the minutes recorded on the spot by the elected council members and Class Representatives present.
