Port Blair, March 08: The Forest Department celebrated Women’s Day in a wonderful way by giving the task of catching Snakes to the Women Wing of the department. A huge rat snake that was around 2.3 meter long and 6.5 kilogram in weight was caught by three brave lady snake catchers of the Forest Department today from the Dairy Farm Water Tank area.
Forest Ranger, Neelam Purti, Forester Namita Ghosh and Forest Guard, Anupa were given the task today to catch a Snake for which a complaint, snake catching wing had received at 11:30 am. On call the team of three ladies reached the spot and in no time rescued the snake from the area.
As per reports the snake had bitumen all over its body and after rescuing the snake the women team cleaned the body of the snake with coconut oil. The snake has been taken to Haddo Zoo from where it will be released to safe area soon.
Till now the team under the leadership of Deputy Ranger, Manjit Singh has rescued more than 200 venomous and non venomous snakes from the city and has always been on call, that too on time.
The Women Snake Catching wing today looked very courageous and it seems that in coming days they will also come on call, giving message that women can do anything that men can.
