Port Blair, July 04: Every time, let it be the case of Masters Faizal, Bonafas, Sohiab , Wngslee or else, the Lt Governor comes forward to release of fund for their treatment irrespective of caste and creed. But there are so many other funds also available for the treatment of poor islanders lying with Directorate of Health Services and others which most of the islanders are not aware of it.
To ease the funding process for granting relief to the eligible patients of these Islands R Mohan, the State President, BJP in his letter to the Lt Governor stated that the Director of Health Services is having a fund viz “Illness fund”. This is meant for the treatment of helpless Patients of these islands coming under BPL category. The entire amount of treatment except expenditure of Journeys is born from this fund but many people are not aware of this fund. Mohan thus requested for a BPL survey so that the deserving and eligible patients are able to avail this facility. The Party has also requested to consider for inclusion of to and fro journey expenses for the patient and one of the attendants in this relief fund.
