Port Blair, Jan 23: IGNOU provides academic services to its learners, through empanelled Academic Counsellors, at Learner Support Centres located across Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Port Blair, Hut Bay, Car Nicobar, Kamorta,Campbell Bay, Mayabunder. Having more than 100 varieties of subjects in its academic programmes, the academic support services are being provided by subject/field experts and college teachers. Recently, IGNOU has started offering: Psychology, Social works, Dietetics and Food Service Management, Travel Management, Counseling and Family Therapy, Gender Studies, Disaster Management, Journalism & Mass Communication, Educational Technology, IPR, Criminal Justice, Book-publishing, Urban Planning, Child Development, Aquaculture, Fish Products Technology, Power Management, Health Management, Anthropology, Geology, Bio-Chemistry, Nutritional Sciences, Nursing, Spanish/French/Arabic/ Foreign Languages, Translation Studies, etc. To offer such varieties of subjects in A & N Islands, the IGNOU Regional Centre-Port Blair is in need of professionals, field experts, teachers having relevant academic qualifications / teaching or field experiences etc. Academic Counsellors need not be college teachers and retired persons can also get empanelled, as there is no age bar. Persons working in various govt. departments related to IGNOU subjects are also welcome, as the role of academic counselor is part-time in nature (classes on Sundays only). The face-to-face activities are normally carried-out on Sundays at IGNOU Learner Support Centre functioning at JNRM, Port Blair.
