Port Blair, Jan 19: 12th of January the birth day of Swami Vivekananda is observed as National Youth Day in India. National Day is followed by various activities for a week i.e. 13th to 19th January in every year.
In this regard, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diglipur observed National Youth Day on 12.01.2018 at Vivekananda Youth Club, Durgapur in which 29 male and female participants from adjoining youth Club and Mahila Mondals of Diglipur zone were participated.
Mr. Goutam Biswas, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Shibpur was the chief quest and he garlanded the portrait of Swami Vivekananda. He also delivered a speech on Philosophy and teaching of Swami Vivekananda.
During the week local folk song & folk dance, Essay writing competition, Sanitation drives, Volleyball match, Seminars and Exhibition were also organized at different Youth Club and Mahila Mondals of Diglipur zone. Altogether 233 male and female participants were participated.
Mr. Jagjeevan Ram, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Diglipur welcomed the respectable persons and gathering and he also delivered a speech about the life of Swami Vivekananda. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Protap Dhali, Secretary, Vivekananda Youth Club, Durgapur.
