Port Blair, Jan 16: Officers attending Army Higher Command Course alongwith Instructors of Army War College, Mhow (MP),visited Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 13th to 16th Jan 2018. Army War College is a premier training institution of Indian Army which conducts prestigious Higher Command Course to train selected middle level senior officers of the Indian Army in higher decision making, Strategy and Operations. During the visit, the course participants and Directing Staff officers were briefed on the strategic dimensions of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and on the role and capabilities of the Andaman and Nicobar Command. The student officers also went for a day at sea aboard two Indian Navy ships where operational demonstrations were carried out. In order to familiarise the student officers with development, ecology and environmental imperatives, visits were organised to Jolly Buoy, Ross Island and National Memorial Complex.
The environmental and ecological sensitivities of the Islands have been focused upon specifically during various briefings, such that future military leadership remains sensitive to the security and development issues in the Andamans.
