Port Blair, July 01: Within a month there have been three incidents of flooding in North and Middle Andaman. Though many can argue that these were not actual flood but only incidents of rising water level due to heavy rain and high tides but pictures available with Andaman Sheekha proves that the situation in North and Middle Andaman were no good than the actual flood like situation, may be even worse.
Though Congress, BJP and other political parties have already requested the Administration to release compensation to flood victims but even today no official announcement of releasing compensation has come from the side of Administration.
Although no one has died in these floods but the amount of damage is too high. Hundreds of houses have been flooded by the rainwater, which destroyed all most all house hold articles of public, right from TV, fridge to computers. Many farmers have lost their cattle and livestock.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the DC of North and Middle Andaman had recently said that necessary orders for assessment of damage have already been issued this time. Hopefully the assessment report will record right magnitude of damage and the Administration will soon announce a suitable relief package for the flood victims of North and Middle Andaman.
