Mayabunder, Nov 29: The Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, North & Middle Andaman, Mrs Kalpana Bain today raised many issues in front of the Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands related to the Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder.
Admiral DK Joshi, Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands who is presently on a visit to the North & Middle Andaman today held a meeting at APWD Guest House Mayabunder.
The Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha pointed out that the MGG College don’t have regular Principal as well as regular Professors for most of the subjects. Mrs Kalpana Bain demanded the Lt Governor to introduce few more streams in the college.
Listening to the grievances, the Lt Governor inquired about the present situation of the college from the present acting principal Dr Manahas, who replied that the post of the regular Principal is vacant since 30/09/2008 and he stated that as per present teaching work load total 36 regular professors are required.
He said that there are only 21 sanctioned posts for professors but out of these 21 only 9 regular posts are filled and remaining 12 regular sanctioned posts are still vacant.
Principal further stated that MGG College needed total 67 non teaching staffs for the smooth functioning of the college, whereas the college presently possesses only 27 non teaching staffs.
After listening to the grievances LG reportedly assured to look into this matter.
