Port Blair, Nov 22: Mr. Indrapal Singh, Chairperson, PBMC visited Ward No. 11 alongwith the ward Councilor, Smti Vinita Malhotra, Mr. Ganeshan, EE(Works) and other Engineering staff of PBMC. The team inspected South Point near Muthu Mariamman Temple.
During inspection, it was observed by the Civic chief that the residents of that area as well as the devotees face immense hardship due to lack of proper approach to reach the temple in that area. It was also noticed that there is every chance of land sliding during heavy rain. To avoid further mishap and to protect the existing footpath it is essential to raise a retaining wall for the safety of the people as well as public property. Thousands of devotees use to visit the said temple for offering daily pooja and other rituals. Keeping in view of the convenient and safety of the populace of that area, the Civic Chief directed the Engineering staff to complete this work in a war footing manner in the larger public interest.
Thereafter the team visited the Slaughter House situated at South Point. The Chairperson noticed that there is an urgent need for repair / renovation of the existing Slaughter House. Necessary directions have been issued to the Engineering staff to take up the repair work of Slaughter House immediately.
The Chairperson further directed the Engineering wing to build up a Children’s Park by developing the vacant land situated near the Slaughter House and an eco-friendly hut may also be erected there for the convenient of the residents of South Point area.
The Civic Chief directed the Engineering Staff to carry out all the developmental activities immediately and complete it in a time bound manner in the larger public interest.
