Port Blair, Nov 21: Numerous fluctuations in Broad Band services, High Rate of Internet Data of BSNL and withdrawal of unlimited Broad Band plans have made holes in the pocket of BSNL consumers in the entire Andaman Nicobar Islands.
Complaints, that are being received from the BSNL consumers across A & N Islands, after the changes in the Broad Band plans they are getting huge bills but sadly even after that they are neither getting fast internet nor prompt service after any complaint.
It is for the information of the public that not only the Unlimited Plans has been withdrawn, for most of the BB plans the amount of free, Data has also been reduced for example for the 999 BB Plan earlier a consumer was allowed to download 20 GB free data which has now been reduced to only 10 GB.
Worst hit are the Businessmen, who earlier used only unlimited plans just because there usage were very high but now they have to pay high bills because of withdrawal of all Unlimited Plans without low speed and numerous fluctuations.
“Even if we are ready pay these bills, the problem here is that most of the times the modem receives no signal,” complained a businessmen.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Chief General Manager, BSNL, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr V Jagadeeshan he said that withdrawing unlimited BB plans in the islands is not their decision as the decision has come from Headquarter at New Delhi.
About high bills the CGM said that their system generates the bill and it can never happen that the bill comes higher than the usage, if there is any such case with any customer, can register their complaints.
The CGM said that often due to lack of knowledge customers take lower plan but use Internet too much which results in high bill amount. He also said that often Broad Band Customers keeps their modem on, for whole night and because of non stop downloading of images and videos through social media apps, the uses automatically goes up.
Nearly two week back the CGM also instructed a Staff of the BSNL to contact Andaman Sheekha and brief about the plan for good publicity but till today no staffs from the BSNL has contacted Andaman Sheekha to explain about the plans, which shows professionalism in BSNL.
Such exploitation of public, in these Islands is totally unjustified as already the internet in these Islands is very slow. Local residents now demand restoration of all unlimited BB plans, decrease in Data Rates and better speed in 2G, 3G and broadband services.
Even the unlimited data plans are withdrawn from mobile network also. As a student i face lot of problems. I suggest to make a protest for welfare of ourselves. In mobile network Only 50mb per day is limited. I cannot afford high data rates.
