Port Blair, Nov 17: The Annual Training Camp (ATC) 2017 of Naval NCC is underway from 14th Nov 17, with arrival of more than 280 cadets, ANOs and Caretakers from all over Andaman and Nicobar Islands at ITF Ground, Port Blair. The Camp Commandant and Commanding Officer Lieutenant Commander Jagatheesh Pandian inaugurated the Camp with welcome address to the cadets, ANO`s and Caretakers who will be attending the camp till 23rd Nov.
In accord with the aim of the camp, various activities have been planned with a focus on training the cadets to develop leadership qualities, meet challenges in life, bring about awareness regarding health, hygiene, Disaster Management to handling Natural calamities, possible Hazards in day to day life, environmental awareness etc. In conjunction with the same a Rally is planned on 17th Nov 17 to bring awareness among general public against social stigmas.
In order to encourage and bring awareness about Defence forces amidst the cadets, with primary support from Head Quarters ANC, A Visit was organized in coordination with NAVCC, NSRY for the cadet’s on 15 Nov. They had an opportunity to learn and understand the operations of NSRY(PB), FDN-I and two Naval Warships, INS Saryu and INS Bangaram, which happened to be first ever experience for most of the cadets. Lt Sadhana, Senior Education Officer of INS Jarawa educated the cadets on different recruitment process and various entries to join Indian Navy.
The state Administration has extended their support for the ongoing camp by providing valuable lecture on ‘Traffic Management’ by Inspector Harinarayan, The understanding and importance of traffic rules and regulations was instructed to the cadets. In addition a Lecture on Disaster management by Mr Deen Mohammad and Mr Godan Rao from Directorate of Disaster Management was an eye opener for both cadets and other staffs in the camp. Small Arms Training and Firing was also carried at Brichgunj Firing range for the out station cadets.
As part of the ongoing Camp, and forthcoming NCC Day celebrations, a large-scale blood donation camp is being organized on 20th Nov 17 at 0900hrs at the campsite. The Camp Commandant and the Commanding Officer has invited volunteers from the Ex-NCC cadets also to be a part of the Blood Donation camp.
