Port Blair, Nov 17: The 4th Day of the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration was inaugurated on 17th Nov, 2017 at Humfrygunj Panchayat Hall by Mr. Rajender Pal, Block Development Officer (BDO), Ferrargunj as the Chief Guest in presence of Representatives of various Apex Level Cooperative, Govt. officials, PRI members and a large gathering of Cooperators.
At the beginning, Mr. Anant Rao, General Secretary, A & N State Cooperative Union welcomed all the delegates to the 64th All India Coop. Week Celebration 2017. He further informed the gathering that
today is the fourth day programme on the ongoing 64th All India Coop. Week Celebration 2017 and today’s topic is “Public Private-Co-operative Partnership”.
Mr. Abdul Rasheed, ARCS spoke on the topic “Public Private-Co-operative Partnership” by highlighting the importance of Co-operative Week to the gathering. He further added that Co-operatives are the need of the country. It is the time for the SHGs to function as co-operative societies and yield more profits. He also emphasized that certain amendments need to be carried out in the bye-laws of the co-operatives to engage themselves in Private Public Partnerships.
Mr. Rajender Pal, BDO, Ferrargunj in his key note address informed the gathering that co-operative play a vital role in the development of various works at the village level and Samiti level. He further requested Co-op. Dept. to audit the co-operative societies and suggest/guide them to strengthen their co-operative structure. He also spoke on the various efforts undertaken by A & N State Co-operative
Union in spreading the messages of Co-operative movements across A & N Islands. The Chief Guest distributed certificates to the successful candidates of tailoring courses organised by A & N State Coop. Union and also the certificates of various programmes of the Humfrygunj Panchayat carried out in collaboration with the Health Dept. and Disaster Management Dept.
Mr. M. K Srinivasan, General Manager, ANCOFED, also spoke on the occasion by highlighting the examples of successful co-operative societies. Mr. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director of the bank also spoke on the topic of Public Private-Co-operative Partnership. He further also highlighted the use of technology in Co-operative sectors will be more effective in the improvement of the sector.
The Programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Surender Nath Singh, Project officer, NCUI.
