Billyground, Nov 13: Insufficient Supply of LPG Cylinders by the Consumer Co-operative Society to the residents of Billyground, left the residents very upset last Saturday following which huge number of angry residents of Billyground stopped the LPG Truck at Swadeshnagar Bridge, demanding sufficient number of LPG Cylinders. As per reports, since last two months the CCS hasn’t supplied the LPG Cylinder to the area, following which the residents had to face a lot of hardship. Last Saturday when a LPG Truck reached Swadeshnagar hardly with 300 Cylinders, it triggered anger among the residents as the number of Cylinders brought were grossly insufficient to their needs. Women and Men both protested in front of the CCS Office of the area.
Later a team of Billyground Police Unit reached the area and controlled the Mob. However, the Mob didn’t allow the LPG Cylinder Truck to move from the area and since last Saturday the Truck was in the Custody of Billyground Police Unit. “Till our demands are not fulfilled and another LPG Truck reaches here we won’t allow this LPG Truck to move,” said an angry resident. Today itself the CCS issued a Press Note in the Daily Telegram, that they have sufficient number of LPG Cylinders, therefore the question arises here is, why since last two months the CCS hasn’t supplied Cylinder to the aforesaid area? Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the President, Island Protection Forum, Mr MT Mustafa said that the administration must fix responsibility against the concerned staffs, that why even after having sufficient Cylinders, the supply is not sufficient and proper. He also demanded the CCS to supply Cylinder every month in all the villages of the islands.
However, talking to Andaman Sheekha, Secretary, CCS, Mr Paramasivam said that this step of the residents of concerned village is not accepted. “We have to cater the entire islands but stopping a LPG truck is not the solution of the problem,” Mr Paramasivam said. He said that the delay was due to ship delay in the recent past but CCS have sufficient number of Cylinders and the CCS would have supplied another Truck soon.
“We would like the people to co-operate us as the CCS is leaving no stones unturned to cater the needs of the islanders,” Mr Paramasivam said.
