Billyground, October 23: A case has been registered by the Anti Corruption Unit last month against 3 former Pradhans of Basantipur Panchayat, Panchayat Secretary for purchasing Some Water purifiers, Fogging Machines and Fire Extinguishers and Refilling Fire Extinguisher Machines and releasing fund for road work and culvert construction works which were never constructed.
As per reports, the aforesaid items that were purchased were without following the proper guidelines of the Government of India rules and that too the items which were purchased were at a very high rate three to four times above the market price.
The contract of supplying the items was also given to the near and dear ones of the Pradhan, as per reports. Sources said that a case has also registered against the supplier who supplied the aforesaid items to the Basantipur Panchayat.
Sources said that the Government funds of around Rs 70-80 lakhs has been misappropriated by the alleged accused in the case. A team of Anti Corruption Unit is presently probing the case.
