Port Blair, Oct 22: The Members of MES Builders Association of India, A&N Islands Branch along with Member of Parliament, A&N Islands Shri Bishnu Pada Ray met with Defence Minister on 18.10.2017 at ANC, Port Blair and presented the Memorandum, which contains the following demands. After hearing the problems presented by Shri Surinder Chani, Chairman of the MES builders Association, Andaman Branch, the Minister has responded that so far concerned to shortage of fund and clearance of MES contractors bills, she has already instructed the concerned officials in the Ministry to settled the same within one month and the remaining issues will be examined by the Ministry.
Issues like Shortage of fund for clearance of contractors bills in respect of work executed by the MES contractors in A&N Islands, Reimbursement of abnormal hike in price of steel 2007-08, Refund of service tax from service tax department, Delay in finalisation of reimbursement of difference between service tax and GST by the MES department, Applicability of GST on works contracts and Enhancement of periodicity to renewal of enlistment from 5 years to 10 years were discussed.
