Neil, October 11: The villagers of Neil Island with around more than 700 signatures are going to submit a mass petition to Director General of Police against the working style of the present Station House Officer posted in the Neil Police Station. It is learnt that a similar complaint letter with 128 signatures have already been handed over to the DGP, when she visited Neil Island recently.
According to the Complaint letter, the SHO Neil Island is involve in many corrupt practices and is also harassing villagers.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Ex Pradhan of the Neil Gram Panchayat, Mr Dilip Kumar, alleged that the present SHO has asked bribe from many in Neil Island and when one businessman denied to give him the bribe the SHO filed many cases against him.
“The SHO is threatening and also harassing the villagers who are against him,” said Mr Dilip Kumar.
Mr Dilip further said that already a Mass Petition with around 128 signatures of the villagers has been submitted to the DGP but as no action was taken against him, the same petition with more than 700 signatures will be submitted to the DGP in the coming week.
However, the present Pradhan of Neil Island Mr Ram Kumar Biswas has supported the present SHO saying that the Ex-Pradhan is very close to the Businessmen and when the SHO caught the Businessmen with Contraband Tobacco Products, the Ex-Pradhan forced the SHO to not register a case against the Businessmen and also threatened the SHO.
As the matter is taking a political turn, the Police Department is also reluctant to take any action in this case, it appears. The DGP should send a team of CID officials to Neil Island to atleast investigate the matter and unearth the truth.
