Mayabunder, Oct 10: ICAR-KrishiVigyan Kendra (CIARI), North & Middle Andaman organised a three days training programme on “Scientific Practices in Dairy Farming” for farmers and farmwomen at Profullyanagarfrom 06/10/17 to 09/10/17. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Smt. Phoolmatitirki, PRI-Member, Profullyanagar-1, Gram PanchayatBasantipur, and Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Senior scientist & Head (I/c), KVK, N & M Andaman. In her inaugural address, Smt. Phoolmatitirki, motivated the farmers for adoption of improved practices in dairy farming and appreciated the initiative of KrishiVigyan Kendra in dissemination of scientific information to the farmers.
Dr. Shailesh Kumar highlighted the importance of dairying for the socio economic upliftment of villagers and asked the farmers to come forward for dairy farming.On the occasion, Dr. Shardulvikramlal, SMS (Animal Science)/ Course coordinator discussed on the issues related to production and infertility in cattle. He advised the farmers to provide balanced feed for sustainable production in dairy cattle. Mr. Tanmaipaul, Farm manager informed the farmers regarding the method of fodder production and management in dairy cattle. Mr. D. Basantia asked the farmers to use agriculture by product such as paddy straw, coconut cake etc for feeding cattle. Er. Manojkumar stressed upon the need for proper housing in dairy cattle. During the three days training programmes, the farmers were informed regarding all the aspects related to management of dairy cattle. In addition to this, simple and chellated mineral mixture were supplied to selected farmers for the conduct of on farm trial at farmers field. A total of 25 farmers and farmwomen participated and benefitted from this programme.This programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Senior scientist & Head (I/c), ICAR-KVK and Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
