Port Blair, Sep 26: Tribal Council, Car Nicobar and ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair has been conferred with the breed conservation award 2017 for conservation of Nicobari pig and Nicobari fowl by ICAR-NBPGR, Karnal. ICAR-CIARI in association with KVK, Nicobar facilitated the nomination of Tribal Council, Car Nicobar for submission of the application in the category of conservation of livestock species (Nicobari pig).
The scientific team members comprising of Dr. A. Kundu, Dr. T. Sujatha, Dr. Jai Sunder, Dr. A.K. De and Dr. S. Dam Roy were conferred with award in institution category for conservation of Nicobari fowl, which was presented by Dr. K.M.L. Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, DUVASU, Mathura, Dr.R.S.Gandhi, Assistant Director General, New Delhi and Dr.Arjava Sharma, Director, ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal on 21st September 2017, on the 34th foundation day of ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resource, Karnal, Haryana with cash Prize of Rs 10,000/- (Ten thousand only) and a Certificate/Citation to the team.
