Port Blair, September 25: A total bandh was organized today by the Shopkeepers of Bambooflat and Ferrargunj area in association with Shop Owners’ Association and Shopkeepers’ Association, demanding 24 hours power supply, Parking Places and for providing shops to those shopkeepers who lost shops in 2004 Tsunami.
Hundreds of Shop Owners participated in the bandh and the bandh affected many residents of the Bambooflat and Ferrargunj area.
24 hours Power Supply, Parking Places in Bambooflat and Ferrargunj wherever required, providing shops to the Tsunami affected shopkeepers at the earliest, repairing all the bad roads in the area and removing the cattle’s from the market area were some of the major demands of the shopkeepers.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Organizing Secretary, Shop Owner Association, Mr MK Hussain said that there are so many issues for which the association is raising voice since past many years and has done a number of correspondences but not even a single issue has been sorted out by the administration instead the problems like Power Cut, bad Roads are adding on to their problems.
“The only way that is left is a dharna and a bandh that we have organized today,” said Mr Hussain. The Shopkeepers and the people participated in the Bandh later shouted slogans against the Administration in the Bambooflat Jetty area.
