Port Blair, Sept 21: The prize distribution ceremony of Hindi Fortnight celebration by the Official Language Department of A & N Administration was held at TGCE auditorium here this morning. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri AnindoMajumdar was the chief guest on the occasion. The Secretary, (OL), Shri Ramesh Verma, Secretary (Law), Shri Pradeep Banerjee, CEO, ZPSA, SmtiShashiKaushal, other senior officers of the Official Language Department, lecturers and students were also present on the occasion. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri AnindoMajumdar was the chief guest on the occasion. The Secretary, (OL), Shri Ramesh Verma, Secretary (Law), Shri Pradeep Banerjee, CEO, ZPSA, SmtiShashiKaushal, other senior officers of the Official Language Department, lecturers and students were also present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary congratulated the winners of various competitions organized during the celebration of Hindi Fortnight. He said, the celebration of Hindi Fortnight aims at encouraging more people to voluntarily use Hindi in their day-to-day work. He said, the Govt. of India has placed A&N Islands in ‘A’ region, hence more effort must be made to implement 100% use Hindi in official works. However, we have not been able to achieve this till date, he said adding that that the Official Language Department of A & N Administration has taken various steps in this direction and with the cooperation of every one, we can achieve the target.
The Chief Secretary also congratulated the Departments that were awarded with Official Language Shield for implementing maximum usage of Hindi in Official works viz. Department of Animal Husbandry, ZillaParishad, South Andaman, Fisheries Department and various sections of the Secretariat such as Cash section, Personnel Wing section and General Administration section. He also expressed hope that in future, other Departments too would strive hard to implement maximum usage of Hindi in their official works and get the same award. The Chief Secretary also urged everyone to work together to promote the development of the Official Language Hindi in Isles.
The dignitaries also felicitated the winners of various competitions besides winners of Official Language Shield for maximum implementation of Hindi in official works viz. Department of Animal Husbandry, ZillaParishad, South Andaman and Department of Fisheries which won the first, second & third position respectively. Similarly, the winners from the Secretariat Sections were also felicitated.
Earlier, the Secretary (OL), Shri Ramesh Verma welcomed the gathering and presented the report on the various activities organized during the Hindi Fortnight celebration. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Hindi Officer, Official Language Department, Shri Brain Lal.
