Port Blair, Sep 19:A brief function was organized by the Directorate of Disaster Management on 18/09/2017 in the Central Godown, Haddo Wharf for taking over of 02 Fibre Boats from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) by the Administration for the purpose of disaster management.
The function was graced by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and other key stakeholders. Shri Govind Ram, Director, Disaster Management appraised the decision taken by the IG, NDRF during his visit for the Mock Exercise at Havelock Island during the month of June, 2017 for handing over of 04 Nos. MOV Fibre Boats to A&N Administration, two of which have already been delivered. The Director (Shipping Services) assured for the transshipment of these boats to its allocated destinations within a fortnight.
The function was also attended by Shri S.C.L. Das, IAS, Principal Secretary (DM&RR), Shri Udit Prakash Rai, Dy. Commissioner (S/A), Dr. R.D. Tripathi, Chief Port Administrator, Capt. Rajinder Kumar, Director (Shipping Services), Shri A.K. Sharma, Asst. Commandant, CISF besides NDRF personnel.
The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration appreciated the efforts taken by NDRF and Disaster Management towards augmenting the disaster preparedness and early response in these Islands.
