Port Blair, Sept 18:The Union Territory Level Bankers Committee (UTLBC) meeting was held in the conference hall of Megapode Resort here today. The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri AnindoMajumdar was the chief guest of the meeting while the General Manager, SBI, LHO, Kolkata, Shri Mahesh Goel, who is also the Convener of UTLBC, presided over the meeting.Port Blair, Sept 18:The Union Territory Level Bankers Committee (UTLBC) meeting was held in the conference hall of Megapode Resort here today. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Guest lauded the performance of all the banks. Reviewing the performance, the Chief Guest appreciated the banks performances in achieving their targets during the quarterending June, despite various constraints such as connectivity. He urged the bankers to improve their performance in priority sectors such as agriculture, industry, so that the target can be achieved. He stressed the need to improve C:D (Credit Deposit) ratio, which he observed was a matter of concern.
Referring to housing loan and education loan, the Chief Secretary urged the bankers to sympathetically look into the matters and extend the lending to the desiring persons especially students, who want to pursue higher education in the mainland or abroad. More efforts are also needed in the implementation of Govt. Social Security schemes like Pradhan MantriSurakshaBimaYojana and Pradhan MantriJeevanJyotiBheemaYojana and also urged bankers to give more publicity on Atal Pension Yojana (APY). He requested bankers to complete Aadhaar seeding in savings bank accounts and PMJDY accounts on priority basis. He also assured that the Administration will look into the matter of issuing mortgage permission and also the land allotment for RSETI.
In his keynote address, the UTLBC chairman highlighted the progress and achievements made by the bankers during the first quarter for FY-2017-18 and also urged bankers to improve their performances, especially in financial inclusion, financial literacy and priority as well as services sectors, to mention a few.
The meeting was addressed among others by Shri.Suddhasattawa Ghosh .General Manager, FIDO, RB1, Kolkata, Shri. B.V.S.Prasad, Gen.Manager.NABARD, Port Blair and Shri Anil Goel, Executive Member, ACCl. Earlier , Shri Bipin Kumar Sahu, Regional Manager, SBI, Regional Office, Port Blair welcomed the gathering while the meeting concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Shri BidyutBinodAdhikari, Chief Manager(Credit), SBI.
