Port Blair, Sep 07: On 04-09-2017, a lady, Ms Deepika, age 18 yrs r/o Shoal Bay, waiting for ferry boat for Bamboo Flat at Chatham Jetty suddenly fell down into the sea after giddiness. Immediately the constable on duty namely S. Ganeshan (PC/446), posted at police station Chatham jumped into the water to save the lady and another constable of Fire Service posted at Fire Station Chatham, namely Lokanadhan (PC/82), who was at the jetty, also jumped into the water to provide support to S. Ganeshan. Also, SHO CCS Abdul Arif went into knee deep water and extended help.
The weather condition at sea was very rough and both the constables had to struggle a lot. However, finally they succeeded in pulling out the lady from the sea water in unconscious condition. Thereafter the lady was immediately shifted to G.B. Pant Hospital for treatment with the support of a lady constable namely Premeela (PC/2118), where she was declared fit after treatment.
Both the constables have shown exemplary bravery and humanity to save the life of the lady.
