Port Blair, Aug 26: The A & N Circle of BSNL has withdrawn all unlimited Broadband plans in these Islands with immediate effect. BSNL asked all existing customers in unlimited Broadband plan to migrate to any Limited Broadband plans by submitting written request for change of plan at nearest BSNL office on or before 31 Oct, 2017.
The new limited Broadband Plans launched in A&N Circle are, Rs 1750 / 25 GB, Rs 2750 / 50 GB, Rs 3750 / 80 GB & Rs 5000 / 125 GB. With these plans free Unlimited Local & STD calls to BSNL network is offered.
Meanwhile some subscribers complained that they were forced to pay for data in existing unlimited plan. The subscribers said that when they connected to net, after crossing some limit, a web page of A & N Islands BSNL appears and asks them to pay extra money if they wanted to browse further.
Customers allege that with existing slow speed they will not use 25 GB of data in a month so why they were forced to pay extra charges.
Sources said that this decision is taken by the corporate wing of the BSNL at Port Blair after analyzing the internet usage by the unlimited planners. BSNL found that some of the unlimited planners were using more than 100 GB data per month.
Corporate wing thinks that if they can curtail these unlimited planners the speed of the internet will increase.
Presently the total number of landline users are 8630 and 60% in that are Broadband users. Not only this, there were about 230 Broadband planners exists in Diglipur out of this only 15 users were having unlimited plan. Unlimited users of rural area are planning to appeal to the CGM to exclude the Rural areas in this decision.
While in mainland in Rs 299 BSNL is offering unlimited plan herein they were completely stopping the unlimited plan and offering minimum Rs 1750 as lowest plan with 25GB. There is no other lower plan available in new scheme.
Only on 8th Aug the CGN announced that BSNL is adding 1 GBPS more internet bandwidth by December 2017 to deal with connectivity in these islands. He also said that the BSNL is going to develop more infrastructures in these islands.
