Port Blair, Aug 24: Indian Coast Guard conducted a beach clean-up drive at Wondoor Beach on 23 Aug 17 towards government of India flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s visionary step of clean India campaign but also has taken step towards “Swachh Sagar Abhiyan” through efforts towards clean beaches in these pristine Islands. Under this program, various Coast Guard ships and establishments in Port Blair are undertaking beach clean up every Saturday. Port Blair, Aug 24: Indian Coast Guard conducted a beach clean-up drive at Wondoor Beach on 23 Aug 17 towards government of India flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s visionary step of clean India campaign but also has taken step towards “Swachh Sagar Abhiyan” through efforts towards clean beaches in these pristine Islands. Under this program, various Coast Guard ships and establishments in Port Blair are undertaking beach clean up every Saturday. The event was conducted by Indian Coast Guard personnel where in approximately 2 Km of Wondoor beach was cleaned despite adverse weather conditions and about 150 kgs of garbage was collected, which was further handed over to PBMC for disposal. The event was witnessed and applauded by locals and tourists. The beach looked cleaner on completion of the clean up drive. Coast Guard Region (A & N) is contributed to realize the goals of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” and will continue to contribute towards this collective national dream.
