Port Blair, Aug 11: Ms.Anastasia, Retired Deputy Secretary(OL) was felicitated by the department of Hindi, JNRM at a function held in the seminar hall of JNRM on 10/08/2017. Ms. Anastasia, Alumus of JNRM, served as Hindi Translator, Hindi Officer and Deputy Secretary(OL) in the Administration for many years. She has also worked as announcer for AIR and Dweep Samachar. Speaking on the occasion Ms.Anastasia paid glowing tributes to her Alma Mater JNRM and her teachers who shaped her career. She also wished that the college, which completes 50 years this year, should celebrate the Golden Jubilee in a befitting manner. Addressing the students of the Hindi Department she told them about the many opportunities in the field of translation, interpreter, Hindi Officer etc. in the field of Hindi. She further told the students to feel proud to have chosen Hindi as their subject of choice.
Mr. Patrick Lobo, Retired Assistant Commissioner, A & N Administration and Alumnus of first batch of students to graduate from JNRM (then Govt.College) read out his speech on the occasion of the first College Day delivered in 1968. He narrated to the students the glorious past of the college and told them to make the Golden Jubilee celebrations a landmark event. Dr.Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM recalled his association with Ms. Anastasia when she was posted as Senior Hindi Translator in Raj Niwas and praised her for her command over the Hindi language, her ability in translation and her humility. He also praised her for her contribution for the development of Hindi in the Islands. Earlier Dr.Vyas Mani Tripathi, HoD, Hindi in his welcome address praised Ms.Anastasia for her dedication to duty and the untiring efforts put up by her for the spread of Hindi in the Islands. Ms.Sansarwati, Assistant Professor, spoke about the contribution of Ms.Anastasia as Hindi Officer. Dr.Anjani Kumar Srivastava, Assistant Professor also praised Ms.Anastasia for her efforts in the use of Hindi as Official Language in various departments of the Administration. Dr.N.Lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Hindi Department proposed vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ms.Smriti Anand.
