Port Blair, Aug 08: Six local poachers have been apprehended for entering and indulging in fishing activities in the Jarawa Reserved Area on Aug 3. A joint patrolling team comprising of Police, AAJVS and Forest Dept led by SI Mohd. Rafique, I/c OP Tirur, proceeded for joint patrolling in Jarawa Reserve Area of western coast from Temple Myo Dinghy Ghat in Forest Engine Dinghy on Aug 3. On the same day at 6 pm, when the joint patrolling party reached at Jarawa Reserved Area Hiren Tikrey, they noticed that 6 persons all R/o Mayabunder were indulging in fishing activities with one engine dinghy. The joint patrolling party reached them and asked to produce permit/license to enter into Jarawa Reserved Area but they failed to do so. The whole operation was conducted under the command of Inspector Shabana Haneef, SHO PS Ograbraj and close supervision and guidance of Shri M.A Nausad, SDPO (Bambooflat).Meanwhile, the general public, especially the fishermen community have been requested to refrain themselves from entering into or indulging in fishing activities in the prohibited areas (Jarawa Reserved Area) failing which legal action will be initiated against them. Any information in this regard may be passed on to Police Control Room (Ph. 100, 232100) or PMF Control Room (1093, 239247) and identity of the informer would be kept secret.
