Port Blair, Aug 03: An “Annaprasan Ceremony” was organised today at Jagdishwara Sangam Hall Haddo by Community Food & Nutrition Unit as part of breast feeding celebration week in coordination with ICDS Urban Project and UHC Haddo in this programme Annaprasan was given to 25 children of various Anganwadi centres of Haddo. Shri. Karunakaran Councellor ward No.1 Haddo, spoke about Breast feeding is an natural way to feed new born & infant and increase Public awareness about the importance of breast feeding as the standard for infant development growth.
Shri. Someshwar Rao ward No.2 Haddo spoke about health and well being benefits for mother & baby and also good for environment and society.
Dr. SiddhaRaju Deputy Director Family welfare spoke about the Breast milk enhance the capacity and capabilities of a child for the whole of his life.
Smt. Suma Sreedharan Food & Nutrition spoke about the importance of breast feeding and disadvantages of bottle feeding.
Vote of Thanks was given by Smt. Sheela Mondal ANM UHC Haddo.
The programme was attended by mothers, social workers, mukhya Sevikas and Anganwadi workers.
