Port Blair, June 18: Henceforth instead of people from different villages/islands coming to the district headquarters for various works, district administration will go to their door steps to address their grievances and to provide various services, according to the directive of Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Lt. Governor, A&N Islands. The district administration of all the districts will henceforth hold regular revenue camps in different villages/islands of the respective district. Two pilot camp have already been organised in this regard by the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) in Neil Island and at Tirur and these proved to be very effective. In such revenue camps the local heads of the department will also participate along with the PRIs where members of public can raise their issues like requests for demarcation, issuance of OBC/Local certificates, encroachments, quarry permits, issues related to education and health care, supply of electric connection etc.
In fact, all issues of day to day life pertaining to the administration can be raised which will be solved on the spot by the district administration or will be taken up with the concerned authority for early resolution. This will provide a great sense of satisfaction to the residents/villagers particularly of the remotely located villages and islands from where it is very difficult and time consuming to visit the district headquarters. Even after travelling long distances and in the event of not finding the district functionaries who quite often remain busy in their field works villagers have to either stay at the district headquarter by incurring additional expenditure or they return back and come again. Under this new initiative they will not have to come to the district headquarters and can personally meet the functionaries at the door steps for which the Deputy Commissioners will send advance intimation to the place of the camp so that all the persons can assemble and get their services at the spot itself.
