Port Blair, May 29: In support of A&N Administration, Coast Guard Ship Rajveer evacuated 134 stranded passengers to Katchal Island on 29 May 2017. Due to non availability of passenger vessel at Kamorta, 134 passengers who were waiting to go to Katchall got stranded there. Since there were no facilities for keeping these passengers at Kamorta, the Administration requested Coast Guard assistance for sending these passengers by CG Ship.
The fast patrol vessel of Coast Guard, ICGS Rajveer which was deployed in Southern Group of Islands was diverted for the mission. ICGS Rajveer embarked 134 passengers including 25 children from Kamorta jetty at 1500 hrs and took them safely to Katchal Island jetty at 1630 hrs. This operation has once again demonstrated ICG commitment towards the safety and wellbeing of Islanders in support of the A&N Administration.
