Port Blair, May 25: The ICAR-KrishiVigyan Kendra, N & M Andaman, organized a three days training programme from 22nd to 24th May, 2017 on “Importance Of Diet To Prevent Malnutrition” for practicing farm women at Joypur, Hari Nagar, N & M Andaman. The training was inaugurated by Smt. LalitaMondal, Member, Hari Nagar. In her inaugural speech she appreciated all the efforts taken by KVK, for organizing the above training and also urged the trainees to adopt & disseminate the knowledge gained during the training programme which will help in elevating malnutrition in these rural area.
Dr. Pooja Kapoor, SMS (Home Science) briefed about the objectives of the training programme and discussed about the present status of malnutrition in India and role of consuming a well-balanced diet for the whole family for achieving nutritional security.The training also included demonstration of various low cost nutritious recipes prepared from the locally available produce.A film show on food preparation techniques to prevent the losses of nutrients was also presented before the trainees. Total of 27 farmwomen participated in the training programme. Shri. B.L Meena, SMS (Agronomy) enlightened the trainees about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The training was organized under the guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK, N & M Andaman and under the supervision of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI,Port Blair.
Earlier, Shri B.L Meena, SMS (Agronomy) welcomed the gathering and Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agrl.Engg) proposed the vote of thanks.
